My grandmother taught me to crochet, doily style, when I was 10. I soon graduated to crocheted blankets, toys, and accessories.This encouraged me to teach myself to knit. One of the very first things I knitted was a cabled vest. No one told me it might be too hard for a beginner. With no naysayers around, turns out it wasn’t too hard at all. I didn’t entirely understand gauge; therefore, the vest was a bit big. But I wore it proudly. I have been happily crafting for more than 50 years. (And I now totally understand gauge.)

Why I should be your tech editor.

My goal is to assist you technically and creatively. I am Blue Crab Knits and I take the crabbiness out of professional pattern writing. I am friendly and understanding with a touch of dry humor. Blue Crab Knits is named for my home state of Kentucky, the Bluegrass State (the home of beautiful horses and fast women) and my adopted state of Maryland famous for its Chesapeake Bay crabs.

My qualifications include my 50+ years crafting experience. Additionally, I am a member of TKGA and completed technical editing classes in both knitting and crocheting through THE TECH EDITOR HUB. More than 30 years as a radiologic technologist and a mortgage banker primed me for empathetic customer service. As a published children’s writer, I have first-hand experience in preparing manuscripts for acceptance. And finally, with a BA in English, I am proficient in punctuation, spelling, usage, style, and grammar. I love playing with words and style. I love grooming the written page into its best possible configuration. I love working with people. I love knitting and crocheting.

Best of all, I’m not crabby at all.
