FAQ

working together

As a writer, I am personally aware of the extreme difficulty in accurately editing your own work. As your editor, I will work closely with you to meet your needs and ensure that knitters and crocheters will value your designs.

I will perform an initial pattern review at no cost to determine your needs and evaluate whether I am the right editor for your pattern. If we agree that I am right for you, you can book an editorial date. I will provide a cost estimate based on my fee schedule.

Services & Fees

Editing details

I work from your PDF file and employ a color-coded notation system to highlight any errors, inconsistencies, and suggestions for improvements. Your personal and professional style will not be affected by the editorial process. I will return the pattern to you for review and update. I recommend a final review (included in the initial fee) after you complete your updates. Because testing can take several weeks, an invoice may be sent prior to any subsequent tests. If testing necessitates significant additional editing, I will advise you of any additional fees involved before proceeding. These would be invoiced separately.

time frame

Most edits can be completed and returned to you within 7 weekdays. Final reviews can be returned within 5 weekdays. These time frames begin when both editor and designer agree to book the edit. I edit Monday through Friday. Please note that rush edits and weekend edits can sometimes be considered if my schedule allows. Rush and weekend edit rates will require an additional 20% be added to the normal fee.

Invoicing

I invoice through PayPal with payment due within 30 days of receipt. An invoice will be sent about a week after completion of the original edit. Any additional fees resulting from testing will be invoiced separately.
